What do methanogens produce?

Methanogens:

  1. These are the microbes causing the production of methane gas as their metabolic product under anaerobic conditions.
  2. They are also responsible for the digestion of the organic matter or substrate which releases marsh gas( methane, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide mixture) and leads to the production of biogas.
  3. Examples: Methanococcus and Methanospirillum.
