Open in App
Solution

The climate of India is described as Monsoon type. Despite a general unity, there is regional variation within the country. For example, the southern regions don't experience winters like that in the northern half of the country. On a winter night, temperature at Drass in Jammu and Kashmir may be as low as minus 45 o C. Thiruvanathapuram, on the other hand, may have a temperature of 22 o c.
The annual precipitation also varies. Most parts of the country receive rainfall from June to September. But some part of the Tamil Nadu Coast receive it largely during October and November.
The country has characteristics of both Tropical and sub tropical climate as the Tropic of Cancer passes through the middle of the country. So the regions south of the Tropic of Cancer are the Tropical areas.
