What do you mean by competitive inhibition? How can it be prevented?

Some chemical substances which have structure closely similar to the substrate molecule, compete with the substrate in attaching with the active sites of the enzyme. The presence of such substances lowers the enzymatic activity. These substances are called competitive inhibitors and this inhibition is called competitive inhibition This type of inhibition can be stopped by increasing the concentration of substrate molecules.
