As a result of evolution, new organisms arise from the ancient organisms. Some organisms are formed as intermediate, which possess the characteristics of both the taxonomic groups and called as the connecting link between those taxonomic groups. For example, Archaeopteryx is the connecting link between reptiles and aves. In Archaeopteryx, presence of teeth and tail represents reptilian characteristics, whereas presence of wings, beaks and jaws are the avian (bird) characters. Peripatus is another example of connecting link between arthropods and annelids.
