Embryonic layers:

  1. These are the three primary layers, formed in an early stage of embryonic development.
  2. These are also known as germ layers.
  3. The three germ layers are the endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm.

Endoderm:

  1. It is the innermost layer among the germ layers.
  2. The endodermic layer gives rise to the colon, stomach, intestines, lungs, liver and pancreas.

Mesoderm:

  1. It is the middle layer of the germ layers.
  2. The mesoderm results in the formation of muscle cells and connective tissues in the body.

Ectoderm:

  1. It is the outermost layer among the germ layers.
  2. The ectoderm gives rise to the nervous system and epidermis.
