Two important examples of fossil fuels are: coal and petroleum.
The burning of fossil fuels has a negative impact on the environment. Some of its effects include:
Carbon dioxide released due to combustion of fossil fuels increases global warming.
Gases like nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide in the atmosphere react with rainwater and forms acid rain.
The smoke and gases released due to the burning of fossil fuel causes respiratory disorders in humans.
