Silent Mutation:

  1. The mutations that do not have any effect on the phenotype are known as silent mutations.
  2. Thus, when no change occurs in the amino acid sequence in the protein it is known as point mutation or silent mutation.
  3. When the altered mRNA is translated and no change in amino acid functionality is observed, it is known as silent mutation.
