Solution

Solution -

  • A homogeneous mixture of two or more substances is called a solution.
  • A solvent and a solute are components of the solution.
  • Solution may be of different according to the solubility.
  • Example - sugar+watersugarsyrupsolutesolventsolution
  1. Homogeneous solution - These are solutions with the same composition and properties throughout the solution.
  2. Heterogeneous solution - These are solutions with different compositions and properties throughout the solution.

Solute -

  • The component of the solution that can be dissolved in the solvent and usually present in less quantity, is called the solute.
  • The solute particles do not settle down when left undisturbed, so the solution is stable.

Example - salt+watersaltsolutionsolutesolventsolution

Solubility-

  • The amount of solute that can be dissolved in a solvent is called its solubility.
  • Solubility of the solvent increases with increase in temperature.
