Solution

A uniform (homogeneous) mixture of one or more materials (solute) dissolved in another material (solvent) is called solution. The component that gets dissolved in the solution is called solute and the component that dissolves the solute is called solvent.
For example, sugar dissolves in water and forms sugar solution. Here, sugar is the solute and water is the solvent.
