Question

What do you observe when sunlight passes through a dense forest

Open in App
Solution

'Tyndall effect' can be observed when sunlight passes through the canopy of a dense forest.
In the forest, mist contains tiny droplets of water which act as particles of colloid dispersed in air. When the sunlight enters the dense forest, the rays of light pass through these particles of colloids and get scattered. Due to the scattering of light, the path of the sun ray is clearly visible. This is called the 'Tyndall effect'.
