Solvent: A substance that has the ability to dissolve a given solute to form a solution with it.
A solvent is usually a liquid but it can also be in the form of solid, gas or supercritical fluid.
Solvents are used to get a solution upon interacting the solute with a suitable solvent.
Common examples of solvents include water, ethanol, methanol, and acetone.
