The calculated relative atomic mass is not the actual mass of the atom. It is a ratio of actual mass with respect to(relative to) the 1/12th of the mass of carbon-12 atom. 1/12 mass of carbon atom is 1 amu.
The relative atomic mass of sulphur is 32 means that the mass of sulphur is 32 times more than the 1/12th of the mass of carbon-12 atom.
The concept of relative mass was introduced as it was inconvenient for scientists to calculate the actual mass of an atom which is a very small value.
