What does the Conduit Phase Depict?

Open in App
Solution

Heart:

  1. Heart is the fist-sized organ that circulates the blood to all parts of the body.
  2. Heart consists of two upper and two lower chambers.
  3. The upper chambers are the right and left atria which receive blood.
  4. The lower chambers are the right and left ventricles which pump blood out of the heart.

Conduit Phase:

  1. Conduit phase is a phase in the cardiac diastole when the left atrium transfers its blood into the left ventricle.
  2. Thus, the oxygenated blood from the left atrium is transferred to the left ventricles during the ventricular diastole.
  3. The left atrium is towards the end of its contraction.
  4. Thus, the contracting force and the downward-facing mitral valve facilitate this transfer.
