Photosynthesis:

  1. It is the process by which plants utilize water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide with the help of chlorophyll to produce energy in the form of sugar and oxygen as a by-product.
  2. Plants are autotrophs, that is, they can use energy from the sunlight to produce their source of food.
  3. Apart from the plant, the process of photosynthesis is used by some microbes and algae.
  4. Therefore, to do the process of photosynthesis, that is, to produce their food, plants require three ingredients, which are water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight.
