XXY syndrome:

  1. XXY syndrome is known as Klinefelter syndrome and is observed in males.
  2. XXY syndrome is a chromosomal abnormality in which an abnormal chromosome number, in addition, is present.
  3. Males normally have one X and one Y chromosome i.e. the XY chromosome.
  4. In XXY syndrome, males are born with one extra copy of the X chromosome in each cell (XXY).

Symptoms of XXY syndrome:

  1. XXY syndrome makes the male taller than the average stature.
  2. XXY syndrome leads to absent, delayed or incomplete puberty.
  3. Males affected with XXY syndrome have less muscle, less facial and body hair after puberty.
  4. XXY syndrome leads to small, firm testicles, small penis, enlarged breasts and weak bones.
  5. Males with XXY syndrome suffer from infertility.
