1. Due to interference or diffraction of light alternating bright and dark colour bands are formed which are known as fringes.
2. Width of the fringe is the distance between the two bands.
3. Two light waves superimpose and create either constructive or destructive interference.
4. Bright band fringes are created due to constructive interference.
5. Dark band fringes are created due to destructive interference.
