Respiration:

  1. Respiration is the process of taking in oxygen and giving out on dioxide.
  2. In humans, there are two different types of respiration processes – Internal and external respiration.

Internal respiration:

  1. It generally refers to the exchange of gases mainly oxygen and carbon dioxide, which occurs between the blood and cells.
  2. During the internal respiration process, oxygen binds to the haemoglobin in alveolar tissues and gets transported to various parts of body tissues.
  3. It is dissociated in order to release oxygen into the tissues.

External respiration:

  1. The process of external respiration includes the breathing process that is both inhalation (intake of oxygen) and exhalation (out of carbon dioxide)
