Open in App
Solution

Photosynthesis:

  1. Photosynthesis is a very important process occurring in all green plants, algae as well as fungi.
  2. It is an endothermic process in which a series of reactions occurs by which light energy is converted into chemical energy.
  3. Raw materials required are:- Carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight.
  4. The gas used up is carbon dioxide. The end product obtained by photosynthesis are glucose and oxygen.
  5. Photosynthesis occurs in two stages: Light-dependent reactions and the light-independent reactions.

Light-dependent reactions:

  1. These are the reactions occurring during the daytime.

Light-independent reactions:

  1. It is also known as Calvin cycle.
  2. In the Calvin cycle, carbon dioxide is used to produce glucose.
  3. The reaction keeps going on continuously.
