Question

What happens if centriole is absent?

Open in App
Solution

Centriole:

  1. Centriole is a paired organelle having a barrel shape present in the cytoplasm of the animal cell.
  2. Centrioles play an important role in determining the location of the nucleus and other organelles in the cell.
  3. Centrioles help with the division of the cell, the formation of spindle fibres during mitosis.

If centriole is absent:

  1. Spindle formation is delayed.
  2. Chromosomes have instability.
  3. Thus, mitosis becomes asymmetric.
  4. Also, apoptosis is triggered.
