Solution

Menstrual cycle:

  1. Every month ovary releases one egg which, when fuses with the sperm, gets fertilized, forming a zygote.
  2. Simultaneously, the endometrium wall of the uterus prepares itself to carry a baby.
  3. But when the egg has not fertilized, the endometrium of the uterus sheds down through the vagina.
  4. This is known as menstruation or menstrual cycle.
  5. The menstrual cycle is a monthly change in the female body commonly observed in primates.
  6. The process is regulated by several hormones such as luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, progesterone, and estrogen.
