Chalk in water is a suspension. A suspension, as you probably know, is a fluid with finely dispersed solid particles. I can tell that chalk is a suspension because I can prove it contains solid particles. It’s very simple, too. Just put it in a beaker, place the beaker somewhere out of the way and leave it for a few minutes. The solid particles in the liquid will sink to the bottom. So when is passed through chalk light won't scatter.
Milk in water is colloid, so it will show tyndall effect i.e. scattering of light .Here is vedio for demonstration.
