Solution

Transition state:

  1. The transitional state of molecular structure in which the molecule is no longer a substrate but is not yet a product.
  2. All chemical transformations go via an unstable structure known as the transition state, which exists between the chemical structures of the substrates and products.
  3. The transition state is the state with the most energy along the reaction coordinate.
  4. It has more free energy than the substrate or product and so is the least stable state.
  5. A transition state is made up of incomplete bonds that cannot be separated.
