Open in App
Solution

Encystation:

  1. To protect itself from unfavorable conditions, an amoeba forms a 3-layered hard crust or a cyst around itself.
  2. It is most commonly seen in Amoeba as a defense mechanism against unfavorable environments.
  3. The pseudopodial and motility movements of the amoebae are lost.
  4. The encysted Amoeba splits via repeated fission under favorable conditions, resulting in many tiny pseudopodia-spores.
  5. The cysts' walls burst, releasing spores into the surrounding liquid, which each develop into numerous Amoebae.
