Solution

Definition of potential energy:

  1. The energy possessed by a body on account of its position or configuration, is called potential energy.

Mathematical expression for potential energy:

PotentialEnergy=mass×accelerationduetogravity×heightP.E.=m×g×h

Explanation-

  1. We know, P.E=m×g×h
  2. P.Eh
  3. According to the question.

NewP.E=m×g×(2h)=2(m×g×h)=2×P.E

So, when height doubles potential energy also doubles.
