What happens when,
(a) dilute hydrochloric acid is poured on a copper plate

Solution

Hydrogen gas is evolved and Copper Sulphate solution is formed. This reaction is a displacement reaction where Hydrogen is displaced from its Sulphate solution by Copper to form Copper Sulphate Solution. The reaction is :-
H2SO4 + Cu => CuSO4 + H2 (All numbers are in subscripts)
