Ciliary muscle:
The intrinsic muscles of the eye are known as ciliary muscles.
Ciliary muscles form a ring of smooth muscles in the middle layer of the eye.
Ciliary muscles control the accommodation to view objects at varying distances.
Ciliary muscles regulate the flow of aqueous humor into Schlemm's canal.
Contraction of ciliary muscles:
When the ciliary muscles contract, the lens becomes more spherical.
As a result, the focusing power increases.
Thus, the the object can be seen clearly. This is known as accommodation.
