Question

What happens when the saturated solution is heated?

Open in App
Solution

Answer:

Saturated Solution:

  • A solution in which no more solute can be dissolved at a given temperature is called a saturated solution.
  • Those solutions in which the amount of dissolved solute is lower than the saturation point of the solvent is known as unsaturated solution.
  • For example, Sugar solution.

Saturated solution after heating:

  • On heating a saturated solution it becomes unsaturated.
  • Because on heating a saturated solution, the intermolecular space between the particles increases due to an increase in the kinetic energy.
  • This allows more solutes to dissolve in the solution and makes the solution unsaturated.

Conclusion:

Therefore, if a saturated solution is heated it will become unsaturated.
