The hormone released by the body during dehydration:
In the case of dehydration, vasopressin or antidiuretic hormone (ADH) is secreted from the neurohypophysis or posterior pituitary.
It causes reabsorption of water from distal convoluted tubules of the kidney and decreases the water excreted out in the urine.
ADH is produced in the hypothalamus and stored and secreted from the neurohypophysis of the pituitary gland.
There are osmoreceptors present in the body, which detect any change in the osmolarity of the blood and stimulate the secretion of ADH when there is an excess loss of fluid.
