Acid rain is a phenomenon when acid comes with rain to the earth. The gases especially sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides released by vehicles, factories, and from burning processes escaped into the upper atmosphere, where it reacts with water and comes to earth back with rain. This is called acid rain.

The harmful effect of acid rain are as follows:

• It destroys the ancient buildings.
• It makes the soil unfertile by increasing the acidity of the soil.
• It also destroys metal objects.
