  • Algal blooms can be defined as the rapid increase or accumulation of algae in the water bodies which can be recognised by the discoloration in the water.
  • It is mainly cused due to excess of nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen in the water and also increasing temperature.
  • Algal blooms decrease the oxygen level in water thus, making it difficult for aquatic animals to survive.
