Ecosystem:

  1. Ecosystem is a geographical area where living forms such as plants, animals and other organisms interact with the non living forms such as landscape, water, air to sustain life.
  2. It can also be termed as an interaction between living organisms with their surrounding.
  3. Ecosystem is the basic necessity for any living entity to survive.
  4. Both living and non-living entities depend upon each other in an ecosystem.
  5. Ecosystem is broadly composed of two factors:
  • Biotic factor: This includes all the living organisms like plants , animals and microorganisms.
  • Abiotic factor: This includes all the non-living components like land, water, air, etc.
