Solution

Parasitism:

  1. The kind of interaction in which a parasite feeds on the host body by utilizing all the necessary nutrients from the host body is called parasitism.
  2. This interaction is not symbiotic because the parasite gets benefits from the host but the host does not get any benefit.
  3. Parasites are very small organisms that can remain undetected throughout the life of the host body.
  4. Parasites live on the host body either by reproducing or by using the host body as a nutrient source.
  5. Some of the parasites can kill the host and some just feed on the body but do not cause any damage to the host.

Example of parasitism in savanna:

  1. In savanna ( mixed vegetation) a tick sucking blood from the body of an elephant is an example of parasitism.
  2. Here a parasite (tick) takes nutrients from the body of the host by sucking nutrients from the body of the host (Elephant).
