Atherosclerosis:
- The disease of the heart in which blockage of arteries or narrowing occurs due to the deposition of fatty material such as cholesterol, and waste products (plaque) in the arteries.
- It reduces the supply of oxygen in body tissues.
- Sometimes the plaque breaks off and can lead to the formation of blood clots.
- Without treatment atherosclerosis can lead to heart failure and heart attack
Symptoms of atherosclerosis :
- Pain in the chest
- Pain in parts of the body where the artery is blocked due to the presence of plague
- Muscle weakness in legs due to poor blood circulation
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue
