Cisterna Chyli is the start of the thoracic duct. It is a dilated lymph channel. It is located just below the aortic hiatus of the diaphragm. That is located opposite to the first and the second lumbar vertebrae. It is like a container and is approximately 6 cm in length. It temporary stores the lymph which is nothing but the clears the body tissue fluid. It acts as the conduit for the lipid digestion.
