Vegetative propagation is an asexual method of reproduction seen in plants. In this, a part of the plant is capable to give rise to new plants. The different parts of plants which are capable of undergoing vegetative propagation includes stem, root, leaf, buds. Examples of plants showing vegetative propagation by roots include sweet potato, asparagus, dahlia. Examples of plants showing vegetative propagation by stems include ginger, turmeric, banana, potato, onion, sugarcane. The common thing in the vegetative propagation of the modified stems of potato, ginger and sugarcane is that they all have buds in their nodes that give rise to new plant.
