Itis a brain tumour that is non-cancerous and is very rare.
It is generally seen in old adults and in children.
The tumour is due to defective formations of embryonic tissue.
Craniopharyngioma starts near the pituitary gland at the base of the brain and as the tumour grows, it affects the shape and function of the brain's pituitary gland and other closely placed structures.
Craniopharyngiomas can be diagnosed by MRI and CT imaging studies.
It can be treated by surgery in the initial stages to remove tumour masses or by radiography using radiation to damage the DNA of tumour cells.
Symptoms of craniopharyngioma include fatigue, headaches, frequent urination, and defects in vision.
