What is Difference between Solenoid and Inductor?
Solenoid | Inductor |
A coil with a helical structure. | Coil which is wounded around a central core which provides resistance to the DC passing through it. |
Solenoids are used for the creation of magnetic field | Used for the regulation of current and storage of magnetic field. |
In a DC circuit it is connected to a current limiting circuit | It is used in AC circuits impedance fluctuates depending on the AC. |
An solenoid is an inductor. | But not all the inductors are solenoids. |
The core of the solenoid will move when current passes through it | As current passes through the inductor magnetic field is created. |
