Question

What is Difference between Solenoid and Inductor?

Open in App
Solution

SolenoidInductor
A coil with a helical structure.Coil which is wounded around a central core which provides resistance to the DC passing through it.
Solenoids are used for the creation of magnetic fieldUsed for the regulation of current and storage of magnetic field.
In a DC circuit it is connected to a current limiting circuitIt is used in AC circuits impedance fluctuates depending on the AC.
An solenoid is an inductor. But not all the inductors are solenoids.
The core of the solenoid will move when current passes through itAs current passes through the inductor magnetic field is created.
