Ferroelectricity, property of certain nonconducting crystals, or dielectrics, that exhibit spontaneous electric polarisation (separation of the centre of positive and negative electric charge, making one side of the crystal positive and the opposite side negative) that can be reversed in direction by the application of an appropriate electric field.Barium titanate (BaTiO3) and Rochelle salt are examples for this type of materials.
