Pollination:

Transfer of pollen grains from the opened anther of the stamen to the receptive stigma of the carpel is called pollination.

Geitonogamy:

  1. It is a kind of pollination in which the pollen from the anther of one flower is transferred to the stigma of another flower borne on the same plant.
  2. It usually occurs in plants that show monoecious conditions (unisexual, male, and female flowers are borne on the same plant).
  3. Example- Maize, corn, etc.

Xenogamy:

  1. It is also called cross-pollination.
  2. It involves the transfer of pollen grains from the flower of one plant to the stigma of the flower of another plant.
  3. Example- Squash, broccoli, etc.
