Glomerular filtration:

  1. The glomerulus is a tuft of blood vessels that are enclosed within a funnel-shaped structure called the Bowman's capsule.
  2. The glomerulus is the filtering unit of the nephron which help in urine formation.
  3. Since, the filtration of blood takes place in the glomerulus, hence the process is known as glomerular filtration.
  4. Glomerular filtrate is made up of water, glucose, amino acids, sodium, urea, uric acid, potassium, etc.
  5. Most of the constituents of the glomerular filtrate are later on reabsorbed.
