Following are the importance of underground stem:-
1) Underground stems are the modified stems that has the importance as they function as storage tissues which stores food,
2) It is also important as it functions in propogation of stem, root comes out of underground stem and a new plant is formed.
3) It also functions in surviving under unfavourable condition like dry conditions called perennation.
