The supply of water to crops at regular intervals is called irrigation. (1 mark)
Methods of irrigation which conserve water are:
a) Drip Irrigation: Here the water is supplied drop by drop directly to the roots of plants, this method is very useful as it conserves the water and is considered boon in water scarce areas. (1 mark)
b) Sprinkler system: This method ensures uniform distribution of water on uneven surfaces. It gets sprinkled on the crop as if it is raining. As there is no issue of water logging, water is conserved in this method as well. (1 mark)
