Locomotion: It can be defined as the movement of an organism from one place to another.

  1. Locomotion in animals is needed mainly because they cannot prepare their own food unlike plants hence plants do not need locomotion.
  2. Animals need to move from one place to another mainly to procure food.
  3. Animals also require movement for evading a hunter or predator.
  4. Animals need locomotion to travel distances when their own habitat becomes unsuitable for their survival.
