What is lymph? How it is different from Blood?

Lymph

Lymph is a circulatory fluid that flows throughout the lymphatic system. It is yellow to the milky-white fluid that contains WBCs and mainly Lymphocytes which are responsible for killing the microbes and fighting infections.

  1. It is a filter of waste, toxic and organic wastes, and other debris.
  2. It helps fight against infections and diseases caused by microorganisms.
  3. Travels through lymphatic vessels.

Difference between blood and lymph:

Blood

Lymph

Blood has RBCs, WBCs, plasma, and platelets.Lymph only has plasma and some WBCs.
It flows through the blood vessels.It flows through the lymphatic vessels.
Blood is red in color.The lymph is yellowish-white fluid.
Blood flows with high pressure in the blood vessels.The lymph moves slowly in comparison to the blood.
