Antony wants to tell the people of Rome that Caesar was a selfless man who worked relentlessly for the welfare of Rome and Romans. Antony reminds Roman citizens how Caesar cried for the poor. Antony also reminds Romans that Caesar had no personal ambition as he thrice declined the crown offered to him by Antony himself. Antony wants the Romans to realize that Caesar was an honest and compassionate man and that Brutus was a liar, an opportunist, who wanted benefit by defaming Caesar.
