What is meant by jagirs and jagirdars?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Jagir was a territory granted by a ruler to an army commander for a stipulated period of time. It is not hereditary.
The jagirdar was entitled to the revenue of the region for maintenance of his troops. They were the ones who collected revenue for jagir ( the land that has been given to him.)
