Solution

Splicing:

  1. Splicing is a biological process where a newly synthesized pre-mRNA is transformed into a mature mRNA.
  2. It occurs during protein synthesis.
  3. It involves the removal of non-coding sequences known as introns and then, joining the coding regions known as exons.
  4. Splicing helps to make genes more modular and helps to make new combinations of exons during evolution.
  5. It leads to the formation of multiple mRNAs from a single transcript to produce many proteins.
  6. It also helps in controlling the gene expression of the cell.
