Solution

  1. Newton's third law states that: to each and every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Examples:

  1. While swimming, the swimmer exerts a force on the water. The water simultaneously exerts a force on the swimmer equal in magnitude and opposite in the direction.
  2. When a bullet is fired from a gun, we observe the recoiling of the gun. The gun acts on the bullet i.e., exerts a force on the bullet; simultaneously, the bullet reacts to the gun.
