The Myelin sheath shows gaps throughout the length which are called Node of Ranvier. Nodes of Ranvier are microscopic gaps (which makes the myelin sheath discontinuous) found within myelinated axons, which helps to speed up propagation of action potentials along the axon via saltatory conduction.
